I wrote this poem for one day without shoes a while ago and I was able to perform it today at Slippery Rock University! We painted flags on people feet, took a barefoot March around campus, and much more.  I hope you enjoy the audio of the poem!

Buffalo Prairie Middle School students will be raising awareness in our first ever One Day event. There will be music, art for all ages, refreshments, outdoor games like disc golf, sack races, etc. We will also be having a silent auction with art created by our middle school students. Our character ed word of the month is compassion, so we will be having our students create art with this theme. The proceeds from the silent auction will go to TOMS! Can.Not.Wait!

Our campus is sponsoring our 3rd Annual Barefoot Walk and Shoe Drive.  We walk together on One Day Without Shoes and collect new or gently used shoes for three local organizations who work with homeless, underpriveledged and immigrant families.  We have collected nearly 1000 pairs of shoes so far.

Adams Elementary School in Mesa, AZ will participate in a "Gently Used Shoes" collection to donate to local homeless shelters.  Students will participate going One Day Without Shoes in the classroom.  Many adults on campus will participate barefoot for the day.

Our campus is participating in a "Paint the World With Our Feet" event.  Our campus is located in sunny Naples, Florida.  During lunch, since it is against dress code to walk the outdoor halls of our school, and probably not safe or sanitary, our new campus club will meet in the middle of the campus on what is called,"The Green Space", a large area of grass and trees.  We will be collecting new shoes, sizes 1-8 (children and adult) and having a picnic with our new members and inviting new ones too.  The collection will be donated to our local philanthropy, Laces Of Love.  They donate new shoes to all students, including high school athletes, in need of school and sports shoes, who cannot afford it.  Our collection of used shoes in good condition will be donated to the local Women's and Children's Shelter.  YEAH!
